On a lazy saturday, my boyfriend and I decided to take a drive to visit
a restaurant that features all Dogfish head brews. Dogfish head is one
of the premiere breweries in Delaware and lucky for us, there is a
flagship ale house located in gaithersburg, Maryland, only a 35 minute
drive outside of D.C. If you aren't familiar with Dogfish Head, check
out the website and browse through their various selections of brews.

inviting. But inside, there was a rustic, outdoorsy atmosphere. There
were not many booths available, leaving a less than cozy seating area.
But, the service was friendly and efficient, getting us right to
ordering.
One of the best parts of visiting an ale house is
being able to choose a beer sampler. This sampler featured the 90
minute ipa, 60 minute ipa, shelter pale ale, indian brown ale and
raison d'etre (disregard the notecard in the picture). Each one has its
one signature flavor. My favorites were the shelter pale ale and the 60
minute ipa. The 60 minute is slightly hoppy but has a cool lemony
citrus flavor. The shelter pale ale went down smooth with a warm nutty
flavor to finish.

terms of food, the ale house features typical "pub fare." It goes
beyond the typical with any of their wood grilled meats. I tried the
wood grilled chicken sandwich that oozed with cheddar cheese and thick
slices of tomato on a toasted wheat roll. The chicken was juicy and
full of flavor from an earthy spice rub. The fries were brown, crunchy
and definitely homemade. So, go for the brew, but the food is a
pleasant surprise.
